Thousands raised in memory of journalist who took her own life

Kelly JAn event held in a regional journalist’s memory has raised thousands for a charity launched after her death.

The Kelly Foundation’s Black Tie Ball raised more than £6,000 in honour of Kelly Jobanputra, who wrote for the Swindon Advertiser.

Kelly, pictured, took her own life aged 40 in April 2019.

The charity was set up last year to support people in Swindon who have severe anxiety, depression and other mental health issues.

Kelly’s father John Stooke, who chairs the charity, told the Advertiser: “These events are essential for the Kelly Foundation to be able to continue its work as we receive no statutory funding.

“The funds raised will be used, in part, for buying in specific help for those on our waiting list.  We wish to thank everyone for their continued support.”
