Tenants move in after former daily office’s flats conversion

A former regional daily newspaper office has been repurposed after being transformed into flats.

Tenants have now begun moving into the development at St John’s Lane, which was the home of the Gloucester Citizen until 2006.

Eight of the apartments have been let now and work on a lower floor of apartments is ongoing.

The building still carries the words ‘Journal and Citizen Office’ on its frontage in honour of its newspaper past.

It was used by a ladies’ gym following the Citizen’s departure before the fresh development began.

Planning permission was granted in 2015.

Tenants of the building have access to electric vehicle (EV) charging points and are able to use tables and chairs fromt the antiques centre next door.

The Citizen is now headquartered at Gloucester Quays along with its sister newspaper the Gloucestershire Echo.
