A daily newspaper has appointed a teacher as its new education correspondent.
James McEnaney has changed careers after 12 years teaching full-time to join the Glasgow Herald.
James, pictured, is also an author whose work includes ‘Class Rules: The Truth About Scottish Schools’.
In a video introducing himself to Herald readers, he said he wanted to report on education “with a difference”.
James said: “There’s so much negative news around and we’re all tired of it, so we’re going to do things a bit differently here.
“We want to properly celebrate Scotland’s teachers, learners, schools, nurseries, colleges, universities, community learning groups, charities, all of it.
“And we want to tell that stories that inspire and can bring about meaningful change.
“We’re still going to be investigating the challenges in the system and holding the powerful to account, but we’re going to do it with a focus on solutions and with a mission to shine a light on the amazing work happening in every single corner of the country.”
