Specific prizes for cricket and rugby writing have been reintroduced at this year’s British Sports Journalism Awards.
The annual awards, organised by the Sports Journalists’ Association, are now welcoming entries for 2023.
As usual, a specific prize for Regional Journalist of the Year is included among more than 30 categories.
Dafydd Pritchard, who covers the Welsh football and rugby teams for BBC Sport Wales, won last year’s crown.
The cricket and rugby categories have been brought back in recognition of events over the last 12 months such as The Ashes series, the Women’s T20 World Cup, the men’s Cricket World Cup and the men’s Rugby World Cup.
The deadline for entries is midnight on Wednesday 17 January 2024.
This will be followed by a gala ceremony taking place at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, in London, on Monday 25 March 2024.
