Reporter promoted to top editorial role after charity selling exposé

A reporter has been promoted to a senior editorial role after exposing the darker side of charity door-to-door selling.

Wales Online senior reporter Conor Gogarty, pictured, has announced he has been promoted to investigations editor at the Cardiff-based website.

Conor’s promotion comes just a few weeks after he undertook an undercover investigation into charity door-to-door selling.

The probe uncovered lies and pressure-selling on doorsteps as well as worker exploitation.

Conor told HTFP: “I’m passionate about the power of investigative journalism, and proud to work for a news outlet with a strong track record of investigating major issues without fear or favour.

“In my new role I hope to hold power to account, expose exploitation and gain insight into the lives of people in Wales.

“Reporting will still be my main focus, but I’ll also give advice and support to colleagues on their projects.”

Conor began his career on Essex Live in 2016 before moving to Gloucestershire Live the following year.

He qualified as a senior reporter in 2018 and then moved to the Bristol Post the following year.

He spent two years as chief reporter at the Post before crossing the Severn Bridge to join Wales Online.
