Weekly’s historic office set to become music studios

A weekly newspaper’s historic office is set to be turned into music studios, it has been reported.

The Lansdown Road HQ of Newsquest weekly the Stroud News & Journal has been sold, according to a report in the rival Stroud Times.

The building, home to the News & Journal since 1868, had been listed with an asking price of £425,000.

It is also the headquarters for fellow Newsquest weeklies the Gloucestershire Gazette and Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard.

Stephanie Preece, Newsquest’s regional editor for Gloucestershire and Worcestershire, previously confirmed editorial staff will continue to be based in Stroud.

The new office is likely to be smaller than the News & Journal’s current home, but Newsquest has yet to announce its location.

HTFP has approached Newsquest for further comment.
