Regional splashes used to celebrate World Press Freedom Day

Regional newspapers’ front pages have been used to highlight the importance of journalism on World Press Freedom Day.

The Society of Editors has marked the occasion by compiled some of the most memorable front pages from the United Kingdom in the past 18 months.

Among the titles celebrated were the Liverpool Echo, Birmingham Mail, Camden New Journal and Manchester Evening News.

The Echo’s demand for an end to the “‘anti-grass’ culture” on parts of its patch after the murder by Thomas Cashman of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel was among those highlighted.
