Regional investigations editor returns to old patch with new BBC role

Joanna MorrisA former regional investigations editor has returned to cover her old patch in a new BBC role.

Joanna Morris has announced she will be working as a core news reporter for the North-East of England and Cumbria at the corporation.

Joanna, pictured, previously spent eight months as investigations editor at Newsquest, where she was responsible for the same regions.

She left Newsquest in October 2022 to join YouGov as a data journalist, based in London.

Posting on X, Joanna said: “I’ve just signed the contract and it’s official, from next month I’ll be working for the BBC as core news reporter for the North East and Cumbria. I cannot wait to get started.”

Joanna began her career on Newsquest daily the Northern Echo in 2012 and went on to spend almost nine years with the Darlington-based title.

She then spent 15 months working as a data journalist working on PA’s RADAR AI robot reporting project, returning to Newsquest in March last year.
