New city title makes two board appointments ahead of launch

Rob WatsonA media production trainer is among two appointments to the board of a new city news title as it prepares to launch next month.

Leicester-based title the Great Central Gazette has announced Dr Rob Watson and Dr Dorothy Francis MBE have joined its board and will “play a key role in shaping the future direction of our newspaper”.

The Gazette was founded last year by De Montfort University graduates Reece Stafferton, Emma Guy and Megan Lupton.

It will launch online next month, with the hope a companion print product will be available in future.

Rob, pictured, has previously lectured in media technology and media production at DMU and has also served as a council member at the Community Media Association.

Dorothy was awarded an MBE in 2016 for her outstanding contributions to the Leicester community and co-operative sector.

She said: “I am honoured to be joining the board of directors at the Gazette newspaper in Leicester.

“I have long been a fan of the project, and I am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to its success and launch.

“I look forward to working with my fellow board members and the team at the newspaper to provide important news and information to the community.”
