Journalist urges local press to do more for environmental groups

Ursula BillingtonA journalist has called for the regional press to do more to support environmental organisations after taking up a new role.

Ursula Billington has made the plea after being unveiled as Bristol 24/7’s new climate and sustainability editor.

Ursula, pictured, has taken on the role after B24/7 was given fresh funding for its climate coverage earlier this year.

She has a background in environmental charity communications and community engagement.

In a piece for B24/7, Ursula wrote: “Entertaining, accessible and locally engaged, Bristol 24/7 is in the perfect position to draw attention to climate action and the steps being taken to tackle social injustice.

“Local media can give a voice to grassroots environmental organisations and make sure communities are informed about the decisions taking place on their doorsteps.

“Change can happen from the ground up.

“I hope readers will be encouraged to get stuck in where they can.”
