A journalist has left a regional publisher for a new political broadcasting role.

Craig Meighan has departed Newsquest Scotland to take up a position covering politics for STV.

Craig, pictured, was a production journalist for Newsquest based in Glasgow for the past two years.

Posting about his new role on Twitter, he praised Laura Webster, editor of Newsquest’s pro-Scottish independence daily the National, for her help.

Craig wrote: “Really excited to be starting a new role as a political reporter for the digital team. Can’t wait to get stuck into all things politics with my new team.

“I’m very grateful for my experience at The National and all the lovely people I’ve met there over the past two years. Especially my editor Laura Webster, who has supported me loads.”
