A city investment group has been named as the sponsor of Birmingham Press Club’s popular Christmas Lunch this year.

The event, which takes place on 12 December at Park Regis Hotel, Birmingham, is being supported by the Solihull-based Shakur Investment Group.

Launched in 2017 by Abdul Shakur, the group has a 25-strong team of professionals including brokers, architects, accountants and estate agents.

Abdul, pictured below, comes from a background of poverty and homelessness and is now highly involved with community educational projects, including coaching at Birmingham Youth Sports Academy.

Birmingham Press Club chairman Llewela Bailey said: “We are delighted to establish a connection with Abdul and the Shakur Investment Group, which, in just six years, has emerged as one of our region’s business success stories.”

Providing the entertainment at the lunch will be Nick Page, who reached the finals of Britain’s Got Talent and who was crowned English Comedian of the Year in 2018.
