Former daily deputy editor launches new photography business

Ian Day 2023A former regional daily deputy editor has launched his own photography and media business.

Ian Day, who was second in command at the Yorkshire Post until last year, has announced the launch of Ian Day Media, specialising in professional photography, editing and media consultancy.

Ian, pictured, spent more than three decades in the regional and national press – 22 of them with the Leeds-based Post, where he also held roles including picture editor and assistant editor.

He was also head of sports photos at the Press Association from 2004 to 2006.

Ian told HTFP: “When I left The Yorkshire Post at the end of last year, I took some time off to recharge my batteries. So, after over 30 years working across the national and regional media, I decided to work for myself – specialising in professional photography, editing and media consultancy.

“With my industry experience, I am aware of the significant impact that well-crafted visuals can have on captivating an audience and communicating the correct message.

“My bespoke photography services are designed to create visually compelling stories that evoke emotions and leave a lasting impression.

“From professional editorial photography to commercial assignments, dedicated picture editing services to photographic workshops. My main purpose is to provide a tailored editorial consultancy service offering specialist training for individuals and businesses – whether they require assistance with visual storytelling, content creation, or strategic guidance for media projects.

“My new website build has been a labour of love for the past few months, I wanted to learn some new skills and set about building the site from scratch.

“It was challenging at times but more importantly, it’s been great to get back into the creative process.”
