Football reporter quits newspaper to join club he covers

Andy WarrenA football reporter is leaving a regional daily to take a job with the club he covers.

Andy Warren has announced his departure from the East Anglian Daily Times, where he has served as Ipswich Town reporter for six years.

Andy, pictured, is leaving the EADT to join Town’s media team.

The move comes following the club’s promotion from League One, the third tier of English football, to the Championship.

During his time at the EADT, he has been involved in running the Kings of Anglia podcast, which covers goings-on at the club’s Portman Road home.

Posting on Twitter, Andy said: “My time with the EADT and @KingsofAnglia is coming to an end.

“It’s been such an incredible privilege to do the job I dreamed of as a child, with promotion for ITFC the perfect way to sign off after six seasons covering the club.”

Andy began his career covering the Worcester Warriors rugby union side and also worked as a news reporter for the Worcester Observer from 2009 to 2011.

He then moved to the Swindon Advertiser, where he was deputy sport editor, before joining the EADT as a digital reporter in 2015.

Andy took up his most recent role after returning to the Ipswich-based daily from a spell with Mail Online, where he worked from 2016 to 2017.
