Editorial team’s expansion sparks weekly’s move to new office

A weekly newspaper has moved into a new office following a recent expansion of its editorial team.

The Basingstoke Gazette has relocated to Absolutely Offices in the town of Chineham, just outside of Basingstoke.

The Gazette had previously been using shared workspace at the Village Hotel in Basing View after its Pelton Road offices closed in 2020.

After recently expanding the team, with the addition of digital editor Megan Stanley and digital reporter Matt Rooks-Taylor, editor Kimberley Barber said it was “time to get back into their own space”.

In total nine members of the editorial staff will use the office.

Kimberley said: “We have seen more people wanting to come into the office and work together as a team so it was time to find a more suitable place to work.

“We have our own space at Absolutely Offices and are really looking forward to collaborating more, plus getting to know the many other businesses that already operate from the offices.”

Beryl Huntingdon, managing director of Absolutely Officesm added: “We are delighted to welcome the Gazette after working with them lots of times over the years. It is lovely to officially have them in the office, it will be a great support for local businesses.”

Basingstoke MP Dame Miller was also at the offices on Friday – and she gave the move her backing.

She said: “It is fantastic to see our local newspaper supporting local business Absolutely Offices.

“Absolutely provides office space for so many local businesses and has done for more than 20 years.”
