Daily rings the changes as two journalists head for nationals

Ed HalfordTwo journalists at a regional daily have landed jobs on the nationals – sparking a promotion and a new appointment.

Ed Halford, pictured, and Olivia Christie have left the Oxford Mail to join The Times and the Daily Mail respectively.

As a result of their departures, Albert Tait has stepped up to cover Ed’s previous role as politics reporter at the Mail.

Noor Qurashi, a University of Oxford history graduate who undertook NCTJ training with News Associates, has also joined as a digital reporter.

Posting on X, editor Andrew Colley wrote: “We’ve had some changes at the Oxford Mail recently and I’m excited to see how we can continue to grow and deliver for our loyal readership.

“I’m delighted the brilliant Albert Tait has taken on politics at a hugely important time in Oxford and this week we welcomed Noor Qurashi on board.

“We’ve said goodbye to a pair of excellent reporters at the same time in Ed Halford and Olivia Christie.

“Both Ed and Olivia worked tirelessly throughout their time with us and I’m proud of what they achieved. Congratulations on your new roles and the bright future ahead.”
