Daily launches its own photo agency for PR clients

Craig AlexanderA daily newspaper has launched a new photographic agency for corporate clients in what it believes is an industry first.

Glasgow-based daily The Herald has announced the launch of The Herald Picture Agency, which will offer photographic and video services to clients for use in marketing, public relations or internal communications material.

It will also offer editorial opportunities in Newsquest Scotland titles including The Herald and the Glasgow Times “where possible”.

The service will be led by group multimedia editor Craig Alexander, pictured, his deputy Damian Shields, and staff photographers Colin Mearns and Gordon Terris.

Announcing the agency’s launch, Craig said: “It is probably the first time that a newspaper has done something like this.

“With the changing times we are using our expertise in a new way that will allow clients to tell the best possible story about their products and services.

“We offer the full package from capturing images through to picture editing along with our publishing knowledge.

“The Herald Picture Agency will also help clients explore new ways to promote their businesses and, where possible, offer editorial opportunities in our titles.”
