Regional dailies across the country have marked history after new record temperatures were confirmed on their patches.
The heatwave has provided splashes for newspapers around the UK over the past two days, with some focusing on the environmental impact of the weather after wildfires broke out in their area.
Several compared the temperature in the areas they serve to those in notable world hotspots.
The Hull Daily Mail illustrated its patch being hotter than Cairo with a picture of the pyramids at Giza on Tuesday’s front page.
In Preston, Spain was the preferred marker for temperature comparison with the Lancashire Post.
Images of thermometers have also been popular on front pages, with the Leicester Mercury’s splash on Tuesday showing one being held in front of the city’s Clock Tower.
And in Blackpool, a smiling sun accompanied the headline ‘Heatwave’ on the front of The Gazette.
In North Wales, the Daily Post depicted a blaze caused by the weather.
And the Northern Echo also reminded readers of the seriousness of the situation, running with the headline ‘Meltdown’.
