Society of Editors to hold first in-person conference in three years

Dawn AlfordThe Society of Editors is to hold its first in-person conference in three years with a one-day gathering in May.

The SoE has announced initial details about the conference, which will focus on the future of news.

The organisation last held an in-person conference in 2019, prior to the coronavirus pandemic.

A virtual conference was held in 2020, although no such event took place last year.

SoE executive director Dawn Alford, pictured, said: “Following our last virtual conference in November 2020, the Society is delighted to once again bring industry figures together to discuss the fantastic journalism that is coming out of UK newsrooms.

“We want the conference to be as accessible as possible so mindful of time pressures and budgets, it will be a one-day event at half the price of previous conferences.

“With high-profile speakers and engaging topics to be announced, it will be a must-attend event for the industry with lively debates and discussions translating into practical ideas to take back to newsrooms.

“Spaces at the venue will be limited so I would advise delegates to book early and make use of the early-bird discount.”

The conference will take place on Wednesday 11 May 2022 at Mary Ward House, in London.

Early bird tickets purchased before 31 March are available to members at £120 + VAT and non-members at £130 + VAT.

The respective prices are £150 + VAT and £160 + VAT after that date.

Places can be booked by contacting Angela Upton at [email protected].
