Minister to discuss media and climate change at editors’ conference

Alok SharmanCabinet Office Minister Alok Sharma is to discuss the media’s role in addressing climate change at today’s Society of Editos Conference.

Mr Sharma, who was president of United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26, will make the address as delegates converge to discuss the state of the industry.

Mr Sharma, pictured, has previously served in senior ministerial roles including Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Secretary of State for International Development.

His kenote address will come at 5pm, towards the end of the day-long event at Mary Ward House, in London.

Dawn Alford, executive director of the SoE, said: “Following on from the significant commitments made during last year’s COP26 climate change conference, we welcome the opportunity to hear more from its president Alok Sharma MP on the vital role that the media plays in reporting on this area as well as the plans afoot for ensuring that pledges made at COP 26 translate into meaningful action.”

Regional press speakers at the conference include Luke Jacobs, Reach plc’s regional editor for the South East and new audiences editor, who will join a panel discussing diversity and inclusion.
