Independent publisher launches dedicated online content archive

An independent publisher has launched a dedicated digital archive featuring two decades’ worth of online content.

The KM Group has announced the launch of KM Decades, which features archived content published online from 2002 onwards – in contrast to some regional publishers who have allowed much of the content from the early days of the internet to disappear from the web.

As well as stories from more recent decades, KM Decades also features nostalgia content about previous decades published since 2002.

The Iliffe Media subsidiary’s platform, which appears on the Kent Online website, also featured channels dedicated to topics including sport, true crime, royalty and politics, the two World Wars and previous centuries.

In a message to readers on Wednesday, KM managing editor Robert Barman wrote: “Today we launch our online archive and nostalgia page, KM Decades.

“You can now search Kent Online stories by date, going back more than 20 years, by visiting our new digital archive calendar.

“Click on any year, select the month and day you’d like to explore and a list will open with links to every single story published by Kent Online on that date. This includes news, sport and features from 2002 until the present day.

“KM Decades brings together hundreds of stories and pictures from our newspaper files and website, exploring the biggest events in Kent’s history, as well as looking at the lighter side of life through old pictures, memorable moments, the county’s famous faces and the changing face of our streets, towns and villages over the years.”
