Football reporter promoted to group-wide sportsdesk role

Daniel BlackA football reporter has been promoted to a top sportsdesk role covering a group of regional newspapers.

Daniel Black has announced his appointment as digital sports editor for National world in the North-West of England after 13 years covering Burnley Football Cub for the Burnley Express.

Daniel’s promotion comes after long-serving Express sports editor Chris Boden bowed out from the regional press after a 28-year career.

Titles for which Daniel will be responsible include the Lancashire Post, Blackpool daily The Gazette and Wigan Today, as well as the Express.

Posting on Twitter, he said his time covering Burnley had been a “dream come true”.

Daniel, pictured, wrote: “I’ve met some incredible people along the way, learned from some of the best in the industry, experienced some unforgettable moments, and it’s a part of my life that I’ll always treasure.

“I’ll still have a chance to get over the [Burnley’s Turf Moor stadium] every now and then but, for the most part, I’ll be tucked away in an office, supporting a team of extremely talented journalists.”

He added: “I am very fortunate to be taking on this new challenge with some really great people around me and I can’t wait to get started.”
