A football club have called on a regional journalist who used to cover them to write the definitive history of their old stadium.
Dave Flett was asked by York City to pen ‘Sunset Over Bootham Crescent’, which tells the story of the club’s home from 1932 to 2020.
Dave, pictured, covered the club for the York Press 2003 to 2019.
For the 600-page book, he landed exclusive interviews with footballing legends such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Mark Lawrenson and Charlie Nicholas.
Speaking to the Press, Dave described the publication as his “proudest piece of work”.
He said: “Researching the book was, sometimes, a painstaking undertaking and, for several months, involved a weekly round trip to Bradford to bring home very dusty collections of archived Press newspapers much to the delight of my wife.”
Sunset Over Bootham Crescent is published by York City FC, priced £25.
