Editor hails new city centre office as ‘really welcome addition’

An editor says staff have been “making good use” of a regional title’s new office after it decided to move to a new city centre location.

Reach Ireland’s editor-in-chief Chris Sherrard has praised the company’s new Belfast base as a “really welcome addition”.

Belfast was one of 15 locations across the United Kingdom to retain an office after Reach plc announced a plan in 2020 involving most of its journalists working from home.

Its editorial team in Northern Ireland, which includes staff working on Reach’s Belfast Live website, had been based at an office Holywood Road, but they have now moved to a base at Rosemary Street, in Belfast city centre.

Chris told HTFP: “We know from listening to feedback from staff that there was a desire for us to be able to offer the option for staff to work from an office if at all possible.

“Thankfully we found a really good option in the heart of Belfast and many employees, across different departments, have been making good use of it since it opened.

“We have already hosted the CEO and executive committee as well as other senior members of staff from across the UK and Ireland so it has been a really welcome addition.”
