Editor among UK’s youngest leaves role for ‘new project’

Sheena McStravickAn editor who became one of the UK’s youngest two years ago has left his role to launch “a new project”.

Ryan Smith has said farewell to Belfast Live, which he took over in 2020 at the age of 26.

Ryan has now been appointed to an as-yet undisclosed new post with Belfast Live’s publisher Reach plc.

HTFP has approached Reach for further details on Ryan’s new role and the project he is working on.

He has been replaced at Belfast Live by Sheena McStravick, who has edited its dedicated lifestyle page ‘Be’ since May 2020.

Sheena, pictured, announced her promotion in a post on Twitter.

She wrote on Monday: “Feeling honoured to be starting a new month tomorrow with a new role as editor of Belfast Live.

“Big shoes to fill with RyanSmith off to work on a new project with Reach plc. But an exciting new chapter begins with the best team.”

Sheena began her career in 2012 and previously worked for Johnston Press before joining Reach forerunner Trinity Mirror seven years ago.
