Digital manager takes redundancy from regional publisher after two decades

Pete RavenA digital and data manager has left a regional publisher following two decades of service after taking a redundancy offer.

Pete Raven, left, has announced his departure from Archant, where he has served as data and invention manager for the past five years.

Previous roles he has held with the publisher, now owned by Newsquest, include sportsdesk web editor and digital content manager.

In those roles, he worked with titles including the Eastern Daily Press, Norwich Evening News and the group’s Norfolk weeklies.

Pete told HTFP: “After 20 years of realising my childhood dream and working for my local newspaper I am incredibly sad to be leaving.

“My only regret is that the journey is now over and I’m leaving behind an exceptional group of reporters and colleagues.

“I have loved every minute working at Archant and am looking forward to continuing my career within data journalism elsewhere.”

Pete is the latest in a number of senior editorial figures who have left since Archant was taken over by fellow regional publisher Newsquest earlier this year.

They include former editorial director Jeremy Clifford and director of content development Laura Adams.

Other editors who have left include Dave Powles (Eastern Daily Press), Brad Jones (East Anglian Daily Times), John Elworthy (Cambs Times), Andy Cooper (Devon Life) and Tim Williams, managing editor of the EDP and NEN.

HTFP has approached Newsquest for comment.
