Union chiefs to meet publisher over staff ‘stress’ concerns

Laura DavisonUnion bosses are set to meet with a regional publisher amid concerns about stress faced by editorial staff.

The National Union of Journalists is due to discuss the issues with JPIMedia today after launching a ‘stress survey’ on journalists’ working conditions at the company.

The union says it has concerned about staffing levels, recruitment, retention and workload pressures at the group and has called for editorial staff to take part in the anonymous poll.

Today’s planned meeting was revealed in an email to JPIMedia NUJ members from group chapel organiser Laura Davison, which has been seen by HTFP.

Laura, pictured, wrote: “We are concerned about staffing levels, recruitment, retention and workload pressures and want to understand the day to day issues you are facing.

“We have already written to the company to raise concerns and officials are due to meet with the company on Thursday this week.

“Now we want to hear from you in more detail. The survey will provide important specific evidence that can be shared with the company on an anonymised basis.”

HTFP has approached both the NUJ and JPIMedia for further comment.
