A regional editorial boss has taken on a new journalism training role at a university.

Newsquest editorial director Toby Granville has announced he has joined the advisory board at the University of Sheffield’s Department of Journalism Studies.

The board was launched by the university in 2016 and features influential figures from the media industry and the research community.

Toby, pictured, also serves on the board of the National Council for the Training of Journalists.

Posting on Twitter, he wrote: I’m delighted and honoured to be joining the journalism studies advisory board at [Sheffield].

“Can’t wait to get stuck in and help advise on the best possible training for our journalists of the future.”

Other regional press members of the advisory board include Alison Gow, audience and content director for Reach plc in the North West.
