National news title vows to increase number of regional ‘voices’

Nick MitchellA national news site has pledged to find “more new voices” from across the UK’s regions after marking six months in business.

JPIMedia title NationalWorld has celebrated the milestone with a pledge to “keep growing” and produced “more quality journalism”.

NationalWorld was launched at the end of March with a team of 27 journalists based entirely outside of London.

Senior editorial managers were among those recruited from across the company’s regional titles to join the site.

Now, editor Nick Mitchell has vowed to continue the trend by looking for “more new voices from across the UK”.

Nick, pictured, wrote in a message to readers: “Of course, we want to keep growing, but we want to do this by producing more quality journalism on the topics you’re coming to NationalWorld for.

“We’ll be doing more investigations, more fact-checkers, more data analysis, more features and more original reporting. We’ll be producing more original video and podcasts.

“We’ll be looking for more new voices from across the UK, and our three brilliant new apprentices – Isabella Boneham, Hiyah Zaidi and Susanna Sealy – are already making a big difference.

“We’ll launch more newsletters with insightful and witty commentary on the subjects that matter to you – and give you more incentives to become a registered user.”

Nick went on to praise the launch of NAtionalWorld’s new city sister sites in Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Birmingham and Newcastle.

He added: “As for the next six months of news? That’s anyone’s guess, but you can be sure we’ll report and explain it.”
