Newly-founded publisher touts further purchases and launches

Jim Parker 1A recently-founded local news publisher has touted further acquisitions and launches after revealing its editorial management structure.

Clear Sky Publishing has announced that Joe Bulmer’s role as editor of the North Devon Gazette has been extended to digital editor for the company, while Nikki Belso has been unveiled as the group’s print production editor.

In announcing the moves, Clear Sky also said company editor-in-chief Jim Parker’s role “will further expand to incorporate any acquisitions or new launches”.

HTFP understands the publisher is currently planning to launch new titles and make acquisitions in the New Year.

Clear Sky was formed by Simon Bax, who was Archant’s executive chairman until last year, along with Torbay Weekly managing director Chris Coward.

In August, it revealed it was purchasing three Archant titles – the Torbay Weekly and North Devon Gazette newspapers, as well as Exeter Life magazine.

In an announcement about the new structure, Chris said: said: “This is a very positive development in our journey and one which recognises our ambitions to grow and provide broader solutions.

“Jim’s community model has been an outstanding success with our readers in Torbay and we now look to strengthen it across our portfolio as we reach a wider audience.”

Jim, pictured, added: “Our community content model has been well-received in Torbay and it’s great to be given the opportunity to roll it out across North Devon.

“With an outstanding editorial team, led by Joe and Nikki, coupled with the passion and enthusiasm of our commercial people, I am confident we can produce a newspaper which will be just as well-received by the community in North Devon.”
