A new editor has been appointed to boost a regional daily’s district coverage.

Rebecca Koncienzcy has been announced as the editor of MyWirral, a digital brand launched by the Liverpool Echo to serve the Wirral Peninsula.

The Echo also publishes a Wirral edition and has a section dedicated to news about the peninsula on its website.

Rebecca, pictured, previously served as digital distributions editor at the Echo.

In that role, she oversaw search engine optimisation and trending content on the website and regularly stood in for the social media editor.

She is also a recipient of the Journalism Diversity Fund.

Speaking to HTFP about her new role, she said: “From covering local council meetings, to campaigning for cleaner local beaches or throwing our weight behind overdue Birkenhead regeneration projects, as editor of MyWirral I will be making sure we are at the centre of all the stories that matter most to Wirral.”
