A memorial service is to be held for Society of Editors founder and former regional editor Bob Satchwell.

Bob, pictured, died aged 72 in March in hospital after developing pneumonia and coronavirus.

Bob was editor of the Cambridge Evening News for 14 years before going on to found and lead the SoE for the first 18 years of its existence.

He had been unwell since suffering a severe stroke in 2017.

The SoE has announced the service will be held at St Bride’s Church, in Fleet Street, London, on Thursday 9 September.

The service will be conducted by the Rector of St Bride’s, the Reverend Canon Dr Alison Joyce.

A drinks reception following the service is being provided by Bob’s family at the Humble Grape, 1 St Bride’s Passage.
