The former editor of the Liverpool Echo has taken up a director role with the owner of an arena which used to bear his newspaper’s name.
Alastair Machray has joined the board of ACC Liverpool, Exhibition Centre Liverpool and the M&S Bank Arena.
Up until 2019, the arena was known as the Echo Arena before changing its name.
Alastair, pictured, joins ACC Liverpool, which is owned by Liverpool City Council, as a non-executive director.
He told Liverpool Business News: “The ACC Liverpool Group operates one of the most iconic events campuses in the UK.
“And is important to so many people in Liverpool and across the region as a place where everyone can come together to enjoy themselves and to do business.
“I’ve been a proud supporter since it opened in 2008 and to be appointed as a non-executive independent director is an absolute privilege.”
Alastair served as an editor across different newspapers for 25 years before leaving Echo owner Reach plc last July.
