Daily’s digital editor to compete for national young journalist prize

Amy ShearerA regional digital editor has been shortlisted for a national prize honouring young journalists.

The Greenock Telegraph’s Amy Shearer is up for the Young Journalist of the Year category at the PPA Scotland Awards.

Amy, pictured, currently serves as digital audience and content editor at the Newsquest-owned Telegraph.

The winner will be revealed at a gala ceremony at arts and entertainment venue Oran Mor, in Glasgow, on Wednesday evening, in a ceremony recognising achievement across the Scottish publishing and media industry.

“Lovely to be shortlisted in the @PPAScotland Young Journalist of the Year category for my work with the Greenock Telegraph alongside some amazing Scottish talent.

“Such a nice way to round off what’s been a really fulfilling year covering some truly amazing local stories.”

The other nominees in the category Eilidh Akilade, of The Skinny, White Light Media’s Katie Cutforth, James Hanton, of The Indiependent and My Weekly’s Hope Wilson.
