Daily launches bid to combat patch’s ‘poor’ vaccination rate

A regional daily has launched a bid to change its patch’s “poor” coronavirus vaccination rate.

The Hull Daily Mail has urged its readers to get a “jab for Hull” as Covid-19 “threatens to rip through city again”.

In the city, the current uptake for the second jab is 57.5pc, compared to the national average of 68.8pc.

The Mail splashed on the campaign’s launch on Friday, pictured below, while stories are also being run on the newspaper’s Hull Live sister website.

On the same day, editor Jamie Macaskill posted on Twitter: “Hull has a poor vaccination rate and a surge in coronavirus cases.

“On Hull Live and in the Hull Daily Mail we urge people to help themselves, their communities and the NHS.

“Please, get a jab. Get vaccinated.”
