Journalists’ mental health podcast to vie for national prize

Gemma 1A regional publisher’s mental health podcast is set to compete for a national honour.

Reach plc’s ‘No Really, I’m Fine’ has been shortlisted for Best Wellbeing Podcast at the 2020 British Podcast Awards.

The podcast, which began as an idea by Cheshire Live journalist Gemma Sherlock and Liverpool Echo local democracy reporter Kate Lally, has now been running for three series.

It is currently run by Gemma, Michael Pearson and Matt Aldus.

The nomination was revealed as they launched a special series for those struggling to cope during the coronavirus crisis, with three episodes being produced this week in line with Mental Health Awareness Week.

Gemma, pictured, told HTFP: “This means so much to us as a team. We have worked so hard to bring this podcast into a place where it is at the forefront of people’s wellbeing practices.

“We hope we can continue to help those who are struggling and we thank the British Podcast Awards so much for the nomination. We are honoured, truly.

“Good luck to the other nominees who are doing amazing things.”

The category’s other nominees are Michael Coates for ‘Declassified’, Adam Martin for ‘GABA’, BBC 5 Live for ‘Hooked: The Unexpected Addicts’, Richard and Nicholas for ‘Rainbow Dads’ and Queen Mary Centre for the History of the Emotions for ‘the Sound of Anger’.
