Mike Ribbeck 1A former regional daily journalist has joined a specialist business publication as its deputy editor.

Mike Ribbeck has joined South West Business Insider in the role after spending the last two years covering business news for publications in the North West.

Previously Mike worked at the Bristol Post and Western Daily Press in a number of roles including business editor for both titles.

Former WDP editor Gavin Thompson had served as second in command at South West Business Insider until recently but has now returned to newspapers as editor of the South Wales Argus.

Mike, pictured, said: “I am delighted to have joined the team at Insider. There is no doubt we are living through some extraordinary and challenging times but the business community will play a key part in the economic recovery from this pandemic.

“Our magazine is hugely respected and its role in spreading the message about all the fantastic work being carried out by companies across the region has never been more important.

“I have spent the largest part of my career covering business here in the South West and know from first-hand experience what a great place it is to live and work.

“I am looking forward to catching up with many former friends and acquaintances as well as making new contacts, even though it might have to by telephone or via the internet for the time being.”

Mike will lead the title’s coverage of a number of key sectors, including property and construction, education and skills and the public sector.

David Clensy, editor of South West Business Insider, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Mike to the Insider team.

“He is an excellent journalist and brings a great deal of experience to the role.”
