Daily reveals anger at health chiefs amid patch’s new lockdown

A regional daily voiced the anger of local pub and restaurant owners after is patch became the first area of Scotland to return to lockdown measures.

The Aberdeen Evening Express shared the dismay felt by some venues, which say they were not told by public health officials that they were on a list of places linked to the city’s Covid-19 cluster.

Lockdown restrictions were imposed in the city on Wednesday after the number of cases in the cluster rose above 50.

Posting on Twitter, Evening Express editor Craig Walker wrote: “Venues in Aberdeen have told us they were not informed they were on a list of businesses linked to the Covid-19 outbreak.

“Some only found out when concerned customers called asking for information, which they were unable to provide.”

The new measures also provided a splash for its DC Thomson sister daily the Press & Journal, while also making front pages beyond Aberdeen.
