A regional daily has honoured health heroes with a special edition and front page wraparound.

Dundee daily The Courier paid tribute to National Health Service workers on its patch with the wrap.

The front page ‘thank you’ to key workers during the coronavirus pandemic was accompanied by an open letter to them from Courier editor David Clegg on the back page.

David said Monday’s edition, pictured below, aimed to bring back the “feel-good factor” of the clap for carers initiative.

He said: “During this fraught and frightening period The Courier has been determined to catalogue many of the selfless acts demonstrated across our region. The carer community and the NHS have been behind so many of those positives.

“During the first period of lockdown in spring, members of the public stood on their doorsteps to clap for carers and adorned their houses with rainbows to show their support.

“Editorial staff at The Courier became concerned that as the case numbers climbed back up during the second wave there was less celebration of the amazing dedication of NHS doctors, nurses, support staff and other key workers.

“We hope this can bring back a bit of the feel-good factor of those early clap for carers moments.”
