A political journalist let go by The Sun has joined The Scotsman as its Westminister correspondent.
The Edinburgh-based daily has unveiled Alexander Brown in the role a week after he revealed he had been let go by the national tabloid in a “Covid cost-cutting” measure.
Alexander, pictured, will take up his new role next month.
A former News Associates NCTJ student, he had worked as a political correspondent for The Sun since November 2019 and previously served as a lobby reporter for the Daily Star.
He will take over at The Scotsman from Paris Gourtsoyannis, who is leaving for a new role on BBC Question Time.
Alexander posted on Twitter: “Delighted to share I’m joining The Scotsman as a Westminster correspondent from September.
“It’s a really exciting time to be covering Scottish politics and I can’t wait to get started.
“It will be a hard act to follow the brilliant Paris Gourtsoyannis, who carved out stories as strong as his jawline, but I will do my best.”
