Award-winning business editor leaves daily after 23 years

Robin JohnsonAn award-winning business editor has left a regional daily for a new public relations role promoting his old patch.

Robin Johnson has left the Derby Telegraph to become a PR executive with Marketing Derby, a public-private partnership which aims attract and support investment to the city.

Robin, pictured, spent 23 years with the Telegraph before leaving weeks after winning Local/Regional Journalist of the Year at this year’s Headlinemoney Awards.

He has also previously had successes at the Regional Press Awards and the Midlands Media Awards.

Robin’s appointment was unveiled by Marketing Derby on 22 October.

He said: “In my previous role at the Derby Telegraph, I wrote numerous stories about Marketing Derby and the tireless work the team devotes to putting this area on the investment map.

“I have long-admired their commitment and passion for all things Derby and feel this role is a perfect fit for me.

“I am very much looking forward to shining a light on the brilliant things being achieved by our businesses and other organisations.”
