Publisher launches fresh bid to sell historic newspaper office

A regional publisher is making a fresh bid to sell an historic former newspaper office.

Newsquest is re-marketing the old home of the Wilts & Gloucestershire Standard, with offers in excess of £500,000 being entertained for the Grade II-listed property.

The office, which is close to Cirencester’s historic Market Place was vacated around 14 months ago and has been on the market for around six months.

The Standard is now produced from the company’s Stroud office, around 14 miles away.

A listing by estate agent Perry Bishop and Chambers on property website Rightmove states: “The building was formerly the Cirencester offices of Newsquest and as such currently has permission for commercial office use on all three floors.

“It is situated in an area of mixed commercial and residential properties and could suit either or a combination subject to any necessary permissions.

“In our view, the property would ideally suit professional offices for owner/occupation or investment.

“Alternatively, a mixed use scheme would work well subject to planning permission.”
