Editor leaves magazine she co-founded for new role with regional title

An editor has left the lifestyle magazine she co-founded ten years ago to take up the reins at a regional publication.

Kathryn Armstrong has left Luxe magazine to edit Yorkshire Life, with Jessica Laing and Elysia Agnew replacing her as joint editors of her former title.

Kathryn, who previously worked for the Teesside Gazette, founded Luxe magazine with publisher Chris March, and directors Lisa Anderson and Debi Coldwell, after Trinity Mirror’s upmarket monthly North-East Exclusive, which Kathryn edited, was closed in 2009.

Kathryn also served as editorial director of Luxe owner Remember Media, which runs a number of other magazines.

She said: “I’m really proud of the love there’s been for Luxe magazine over the years – I hope it has lived up to being regional, relevant and entertaining.

“The team at Remember Media is full of talent and has been great to work with – and we have created some unrivalled publications.”

Jessica was previously Luxe’s lifestyle editor, and will be responsible for covering food & drink, health & wellbeing and homes & interiors, while Elysia, who was digital editor at Remember Media prior to her new appointment, will be responsible for arts & culture, fashion and travel.

In a joint statement, they said: “We are thrilled to be taking over as editors of Luxe magazine and Remember Media’s wider portfolio of publications.

“Within the pages of Luxe, we will continue to celebrate the very best of the North East, ensuring the magazine remains true to its identity: regional, relevant and entertaining.

“We look forward to breathing new life into the magazine and we are very excited to work within our sections.”

Chris March, Remember Media founder and publisher, saidd: “Kathryn will be greatly missed, she’s been an inspirational editor for Luxe magazine for over ten years and we’d like to thank Kathryn for her dedication and hard work at Remember Media.”

He added: “It is a very exciting time for the business and I am delighted to see two talented journalists, who have been with us for a number of years, step up as editors.

“We are committed to producing high quality, stop-in-your-tracks magazines and this means investing in talented content creators, such as Jessica and Elysia. I look forward to working with them as part of Remember Media’s growing team.”
