Camilla helps design daily’s front page during office visit

The Duchess of Cornwall sat in on a regional daily’s news conference during a visit to its office – helping design its front page in the process.

The royal consort paid a visit to DC Thomson’s Aberdeen Journals office, home of both the Press & Journal and Aberdeen Evening Express.

During her visit on Tuesday, she presented an award to the winning primary school of the P&J’s Junior Journalist competition and sat in on the newspaper’s afternoon conference, where she chose which photograph of her visit would appear on the front page of the north-east and Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire editions.

The Duchess, who uses the title the Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, was also shown the new studio of radio station Original 106, which has moved into the Marischal Square site after being purchased by DC Thomson earlier this year.

A selection of exclusive photographs from the DC Thomson archive was then presented to the Duchess, showing pictures of the Prince of Wales and other members of the Royal Family enjoying family time at Balmoral.

Alan McCabe, Editor-in-Chief of Aberdeen Journals, said, “It was an honour to welcome Her Royal Highness to Aberdeen Journals.

“We’re incredibly proud of the team we have here and the amazing output we produce every day, and it seems she was impressed by the work we are doing.”
