A weekly newspaper has celebrated its 40th anniversary this week with a special edition.
The free-distribution Hereford Admag, which was founded in 1978, turned over most of its editorial pages to the celebration this week.
The special told the story of the Admag’s launch by entrepreneurs John Priebe and Harry Lambert through to its purchase by Newsquest Media from NWN Media last year.
Staff memories of the paper’s early days and pictures from the Admag archive also featured.
A round-up of celebrity endorsements of the Admag from 1980s featuring the likes of Carry On and EastEnders star Barbara Windsor and the late Michael Elphick, best known for his role as TV detective Boon, were included too.
The Admag staff now work alongside those from Newsquest’s Hereford Times at Newsquest’s offices in Holmer Road, Hereford.
Hereford Times editor John Wilson, who also has editorial responsibility for the Admag, said: “The paper is held in great regard by its readers and advertisers.
“We are delighted to have it, and its talented staff, join our team.”
