News site offers good cause cash boost as part of new approach to negative issues

Jacqui MerringtonA regional news website’s campaign will see £2,000 donated to good causes as part of its bid to approach negative issues from a “new perspective”.

The Projects that Matter campaign is being launched to help boost two schemes on Devon Live’s patch.

The campaign is being run in association with fruit business Westcountry, which is sponsoring the scheme, and crowdfunding website Crowdfunder.

As part of their prize, the winning projects will receive mentoring from Crowdfunder and coverage from Devon Live.

In a message to readers, Reach plc regional digital editor Jacqui Merrington, pictured, said: “We’re keen to approach some of the negative issues that face us, like homelessness, deprivation, mental health and crime rates, from a new perspective and look for the people who are doing something about those issues and making a difference to the people affected.

“This campaign gives us the opportunity to help seek out and showcase some of the brilliant ideas that are already making a positive difference or have the potential to make a meaningful contribution to communities.”

The winners will be chosen by a panel, including representatives from Crowdfunder, Westcountry and Devon Live.
