Regional publisher names its top-performing journalists and titles

The Yorkshire Post has been named the best newspaper in Johnston Press at the company’s annual awards.

The Post triumphed in the regional publisher’s Title of the Year (Daily) category, beating Sheffield newspaper the Star and Belfast’s News Letter, both of which were highly commended.

There was some joy for The Star though, which won the Editorial Team of the Year and Best Use of Social Media awards, while one of its reporters Chris Holt also won the Sports Journalist of the Year prize.

The Peterborough Telegraph was named the best weekly newspaper, beating the Eastbourne Herald and Falkirk Herald.
