Ex-journalist recalls early days on weekly in new book

A former weekly journalist has written a book about her early life and time working on the newspaper.

Angela Norris, who worked for the Garstang Courier, has written Dancing To The Beat Of The Tide about her years growing up in the Over Wyre area of Lancashire in the 1960s and 70s.

In the book she also writes in-depth about her first job as a journalist on the Courier.

Angela began her career there during the 1970s, later moving to the Lancaster Citizen before changing careers to work in health.

To promote the book Angela gave a library talk in the village of Knott End, which was attended by more than 60 people.

Among those attending were two of Angela’s friends and colleagues from her media days – Garstang freelance journalist Anthony Coppin and former Lancashire Post, Lancaster Guardian and Garstang Courier photographer Steve Pendrill.

Copies of ‘Dancing To The Beat Of The Tide’ are available, priced £8.99, from Garstang Tourist Information Centre and here.
