University’s journalism degree receives BJTC accreditation

Kate WilliamsA university’s degree in multimedia journalism has received accreditation from the Broadcast Journalism Training Council.

The course at the University of Northampton combines multi-disciplinary training in radio, TV, newspaper, magazine and online journalism with academic study.

Students will also have the opportunity to apply for a BBC-managed placement scheme which prioritises applications from students at BJTC-accredited schemes.

Kate Williams, left, subject leader in journalism and media at the university, has welcomed the accreditation.

She said: “We are delighted that our contemporary new multimedia journalism degree has achieved industry recognition ensuring we are providing our students with the necessary skills to succeed.

“All our lecturers have recent journalism experience which I think is vital to ensure students are learning from current practitioners.”
