Traffic boost after DC Thomson title relaunches website

A DC-Thomson-owned magazine has seen a surge in web traffic after specifically re-designing its website for tablet users.

The People’s Friend website www.thepeoplesfriend.co.uk was relaunched last month and is the first DC Thomson site to have been created with tablets in mind.

Women are the main target market for the magazine and research shows that over 50pc of tablet users are female.

Since the relaunch, pageviews on the website are up 161pc while the company says traffic from social media sites has also increased significantly.

The People’s Friend Editor-in-Chief Angela Gilchrist said, “Our new website has been designed as the perfect complement to the “Friend”, introducing readers to the people who put their magazine together every week, and building on the sense of community and friendship that the “Friend” engenders.

“It’s a fun, welcoming place to be, and we hope people will enjoy spending time in the company of friends.”
